Oscars Live Stream: A viewer’s guide to the Academy Awards

The Oscars Live Stream are taking center stage Sunday after a whirlwind award season filled with political commentary, surprise winners and an overall dominant display by red-hot movie musical “La La Land.”Here’s everything you need to before the 89th Academy Awards.Sara Bareilles to perform ‘in memoriam’ tribute at OscarsAfter sweeping its seven nominations at last month’s Golden Globes, “La La Land” is poised for an even bigger haul Sunday after tying an Oscars record with 14 nominations.

It won’t be easy. To win best picture — the ceremony’s highest honor — the feel-good flick must beat out fellow critically acclaimed heavyweights “Moonlight,” “Manchester by the Sea” and “Hidden Figures,” which won the equivalent honor at the SAG Awards in a surprise.

“La La Land” star Ryan Gosling is up against Golden Globe winner Casey Affleck (“Manchester by the Sea”) and SAGs winner Denzel Washington (“Fences”) for best actor, while Emma Stone (“La La Land”) enters as the frontrunner for best actress.Aside from “La La Land,” look for “Moonlight,” which received eight nominations, to turn in a big showing at the Oscars as well.Jimmy Kimmel says Oscars monologue will depend on President Trump

When and Where is the show?

The Oscars, widely regarded as the film industry’s biggest night, once again takes place at the Dolby Theater in Hollywood, where it’s been held every year since 2002.

The show begins 8:30 p.m. ET, with coverage from the red carpet kicking off at 7 p.m. ET. This year’s event airs on ABC.Jimmy Kimmel, whose late-night show is broadcasted on ABC, is set to host his first-ever Academy Awards. The veteran funnyman will follow in the footsteps of late-night rival Jimmy Fallon, who emceed the Golden Globes, and James Corden, who hosted the Grammys.Neither was particularly critical of President Oscars Live Stream Trump during their stage time — unlike many of this season’s award presenters and recipients — but Kimmel won’t commit to making his show any more or less political than others.”My guess is that there will probably be some new crazy thing we’re all talking about, so it really depends largely on what’s going on that week,” he told The Hollywood Reporter.

The awards are voted on by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences — often shortened to “The Academy” during acceptance speeches. The organization consists of roughly 6,000 film professionals, which are divided into 17 different branches based on their connection to the industry. Those in The Academy are kept secret from the public, and people around the world are eligible to become members if they’re deemed qualified. The majority of the roster, however, is located in the United States.

When are the 2017 Academy Awards?

The 89th Academy Awards (that’s this year’s ceremony, for those who haven’t been keeping count) will be held, as per tradition, at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles, and take place this Sunday.

How can I watch them?

On Sunday (February 26), UK viewers will be able to watch live red carpet coverage on Sky Cinema from 11.30pm, hosted by presenter Alex Zane.Coverage of the ceremony itself will begin at 1.30am.

Who is hosting this year’s show?

Wish him luck:  the 49-year-old is a first-time host of the Academy Awards. This year’s show is being produced, also for for the first time, by Michael De Luca and Jennifer Todd, who is the president of Ben Affleck and Matt Damon’s production company Pearl Street Films.

Who will present the awards?

Confirmed presenters include last year’s four big acting winners: Leonardo DiCaprio (who’ll be presenting the Best Sctress Award), Brie Larson (Best Actor), Mark Rylance (Best Supporting Actress) and Alicia Vikander (Best Supporting Actor).Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway will present the award for Best Picture, and Dwayne Johnson (aka The Rock) will present the award for Best Song.

Samuel L. Jackson, Amy Adams, David Oyelowo, Emma Stone, Charlize Theron, Dakota Johnson, Scarlett Johansson, Chris Evans, Halle Berry, Jamie Dornan, Gael García Bernal, Shirley MacLaine, Kate McKinnon and Hailee Steinfeld will also be handing out awards on the night.

For weeks now, Oscar pundits and awards-circuit journalists have been saying virtually the same thing: La La Land should dominate the night; Zootopia has all but picked up its statuette and put it on a mantel; the impeccably written Manchester by the Sea will almost assuredly go home with the Best Original Screenplay award Oscars Live Stream. When narratives like this cement themselves around the Academy Awards, as they do almost every year, it’s tough to shake off what seems like an inevitability. But as anyone who’s been covering the show for a minute or three knows, there is no such thing as a completely sure thing. (Just ask the late Lauren Bacall, or Michael Keaton, or anyone who was nominated for Best Picture opposite Chariots of Fire.)

Some of these “it’s a lock” races may, in fact, be a closer-run contest than you think – and yes, that includes the Best Pic slot, City-of-Angels–loving musical or not. With that in mind, we’ve asked a number of film writers to weigh in on six Oscars categories that have the potential for major upsets come this Sunday evening. You may want to reconsider these half dozen “sure things,” folks, before you turn in those last-minute office pools.

Best Song
There are years when this category registers Oscars Live Stream as little more than a blip on the radar (see: Jimmy Napes and Sam Smith’s snoozy “Writing’s on the Wall,” which tookthe statuette in 2016). But given that musical fantasia La La Land has not one but two of its tunes from Justin Hurwitz, Benj Pasek and Justin Paul’s soundtrack up for the award – the moving “Audition (The Fools Who Dream)” and the inescapable “City of Stars” – people are paying a bit more attention. In any other year either would be a shoe-in … except for the fact that Lin-Manuel “I Wrote Hamilton” Miranda also has a horse in this race. His “How Far I’ll Go” from Moana is the best “I Want” song Disney has dropped since “Let It Go.” Could it pull ahead and upset La La Land‘s streak?

How to Watch Oscars 2017 Live Online TV

Getting Oscars 2017 Live on to the podium is the first and most difficult step for any film: the competition is intense, and getting more intense by the year. To pull your film out of the swirling mass of product, first, hire a specialist Oscar campaigner. They will have contacts and strategies to get to the Academy voters and – crucially – know the rules. (Lavish party, yes; talking down other films, no). “There’s a whole culture of courting the Academy,” says veteran publicist Bumble Ward. “Academy members can Oscars 2017 Live Stream go out for lunch and dinner every single day in the season. That is part of the game: who can you get in the room that will make people want to show up? At the end of the day, we are a talent culture – people are still excited to meet movie stars.”

Navigating the right path as the film leaves the editing room is vital: from premiering at a gateway festival (“Telluride is the Good Housekeeping seal of approval for an Academy movie,” says Ward) to organising attention-attracting events, such as the reconstruction of the set of Room in a Los Angeles cinema. Critics still play a key role in achieving Oscar credibility. “A good PR knows their press, and knows people’s taste and what they respond to,” says Ward. “So they will show them the movie first, Oscars Live as they are the people who will talk about the movie the right way.”

The costs are borne by the film’s US distributors, rather than producers; Oscar campaigns are part of the marketing and PR that is already happening for the film’s general release. Ward says the trick is “sustainability” – rather than the two-week release window that standard film marketing aims at, “making a film seem interesting and new and fresh over several months, or a year, is a very hard thing to do”.

Here are some of the estimated key costs:

Specialist PR consultant: $10,000-$15,000.

Advertising: $1m before nomination; $800,000 after.

TV commercials and promo: $1.5m.

Talent costs: $900,000, for flying stars to screenings and events, for instance.

Film screenings: around $160,000.

DVD and digital screeners: around $300,000. These are crucial says Ward: “As much as everyone says things are better on the big screen, people are intrinsically lazy, and want to watch them at home in comfort over Thanksgiving.”

Other awards: $500,000, for Golden Globes campaigns etc, which are treated as part of the wider Oscar campaign. (Estimates via stephenfollows.com)

The show ($44m)

The Academy’s yearly Oscar 2017 Live Stream financial report contains basic details of the costs: in 2016 it spent $44m on the Academy awards “and related activities”. The figures cover the awards ceremony, and a string of allied events, including the nominees luncheon (cost: $260,000), the Governors awards (for lifetime achievement; cost: $865,000) and the Governors Ball (the Oscars’ official afterparty; cost: $1.8m). But the live show, on Sunday night, is estimated at $21m-$22m.

This year’s Oscars host, Jimmy Kimmel, is expected to take a union minimum of $15,000.

List of estimated key costs:

Show producers’ fee: $100,000 each, for Michael De Luca and Jennifer Todd.

Host’s fee: $15,000, union minimum, for this year’s MC, Jimmy Kimmel.

Dolby theater: hire fee not known, part of a complex deal linked to Dolby’s naming rights to the theatre, but the Academy has a 20-year agreement.

Oscar statuettes: gold-plated bronze, costing around $900 each.

Security: $250,000.

Red carpet: $1.50 per square foot, for a 500ft x 33ft carpet, comes in at $24,700.

Catering: no total figure available, but Wolfgang Puck is expected to spend roughly $20,000 on chocolate and $25,000 on steak for the traditional 1,500-seat aftershow meal.

Last year, the Academy received $113.1m as income in its awards division, a profit of $69.1m. The biggest chunk of income comes from Disney, which pays around $75m annually to broadcast the show on ABC. Its motivation? Selling advertising space, which last year reached around $2m for a 30-second spot. In 2015, ABC made $110m in ad fees from its broadcast.

The Academy also charges attendees for tickets, which range from $750 to $150 for a 3,400-seat hall.

The notorious goody bags, given out by the marketing firm Distinctive Assets and this year valued at $160,000, are entirely unofficial; in 2016, the Academy launched a legal action against the company for copyright infringement, which has now been settled under confidential terms. This year’s bags contain, among other items, a three-day stay at the Lost Coat Ranch ($40,000), 10 sessions with a celebrity fitness trainer ($900) and a cellulite massage mat ($99). The goody bag is part of the parallel world of the celebrity gifting suite, which piggybacks on the Oscars. (Estimates via Hollywood Reporter.)

The effect ($3m)

Is all the effort worth it? An Oscar-winning film reaps an unquantifiable amount of kudos, with the participants receiving an often career-changing status hike. But the likely boost to box office is considerably smaller. Figures via data analyst Edmund Helmer suggest that Oscar winners add around $3m to their box office; this compares unfavourably with the Golden Globe’s effect, which adds on average $14.1m

The film with the single biggest increase after nomination is, strangely, American Sniper, the controversial biopic of Navy Seal Chris Kyle. Its box office revenue increased 90% after it was nominated. However, its figures are more likely related to a canny marketing strategy that did not rely on, or even expect, https://oscarlive-stream.com Academy approval. Of the best picture winners, the most dramatic effect was on another Clint Eastwood project, Million Dollar Baby, which increased 56% after winning in 2005. source : https://www.theguardian.com/film/2017/feb/25/oscars-2017-how-much-does-hollywood-biggest-party-cost-earn

How To Watch Oscar Awards Live Stream Online?

Damien Chazelle’s Oscar Awards Live Stream heartbroken contemporary musical is unbeatable, with a record-equalling 14 nominations, a global box-office haul of more than £270mand a trophy cabinet already stacked with key precursor awards, from the New York Critics Circle to the Producers Guild of America to its whopping haul at the Golden Globes.

Oscar Awards Live Stream

The only question is how emphatically it’s going to sweep the Oscars. La La Land is so far in the lead, it’s hard to tell what’s even running second. Moonlight was shaping up as a spoiler, but has lost momentum to uplifting crowdpleaser Hidden Figures, the surprise victor at the Screen Actors Guild awards.

As indicated by La Land’s opening melody, “It’s simply one more day of sun” in Los Angeles. What’s more, for the 14-time-assigned melodic, the Oscars may be “simply one more honor” to win on what we really hear will be simply one more day of rain. In any case, will Oscar likewise rain on La Land’s great record this honors season or will it proceed with its rule? So far it has cleared pretty much every real forerunner respect there is, and in extremely persuading style. In any case, the Oscar isn’t simply one more honor, and this strong leader should evade the scourge of being the one to beat.As I have regularly stated, anticipating the Oscars can be a waste of time, and this year the procedure I offer is straightforward: For your Oscar pool, you can either choose that enough voters Oscars Awards Live Stream are fascinated with Damien Chazelle’s tuneful ambivalent sentiment and tribute to the City of Angels that they simply verify it in each classification. Then again, maybe they feel it has as of now gotten an excess of and need to share the riches.Dependable pointers are everywhere. The Golden Globes and Critics’ Choice Awards offered virtual compasses. BAFTA, however giving it Best Picture and four different honors, truly split its prizes in numerous classifications among a few movies. Then again, the organizations, which as a result of overwhelming covering enrollment with the Academy are normally solid harbingers of things to come, have flagged a breadth could be all together as La Land has scored various triumphs including at the PGAs , DGAs and numerous underneath the-line ceremonies.

We haven’t had a noteworthy scope in for a little while. You may review a year ago’s Best Picture champ Spotlight pulled off winning Oscar’s greatest prize while taking only one other honor (Original Screenplay). It was Mad Max: Fury Road that pulled off the little range (however just in specialized classifications) before going to a sudden end when the huge honors were reported. Before that, both Argo and 12 Years A Slave claimed the Best Picture reward with just two other class wins. Slumdog Millionaire in 2008 was the last to score a sizable compass, taking eight Oscars.

Some are pondering whether La Land on Sunday may challenge the unequaled record which is 11 Oscars (for 1959’s Ben-Hur, 1997’s Titanic, and 2003’s The Lord Of The Rings: Return Of The King). It is as of now in the record books with its 14 assignments, rising to Titanic and 1950’s All About Eve. West Side Story in 1961 holds the record for a melodic with 10 aggressive Oscars. It is a bind to attempt and see which way the Oscar winds may blow this year, yet here goes my best appraisal of the Best Picture race Oscar Awards Live alongside each other classification. For those of you who saw the principal draft of these expectations in our AwardsLine print issue, you will review I put a solid cautioning that these predix were liable to change since there were still a considerable measure of pointers still to come when the due date for that piece arrived. Presently here are my last FINAL Oscar champ forecasts for the 89th yearly Academy Awards on Sunday.

On the off chance that you utilize any or these to enter an Oscar pool don’t reprimand me in the event that you lose. This is each of the a crapshoot. This savvy science fiction dramatization takes the well-worn outsider sort and transforms it into an entrancing story managing life, demise, misfortune, correspondence and a lady played by Amy Adams who dives deep in attempting find the puzzles of her own life as she experiences creatures from another planet. With eight designations, including one for executive Denis Villeneuve, this dazzling film has generation values for a considerable length of time, however is a long shot to take the enormous prize.Denzel Washington’s dependable adjustment of the August Wilson play is the sort of Broadway exchange from stage to screen studios used to do constantly, yet infrequently attempt any longer.

Its prosperity is encouraging, and taking practically the whole cast from the 2010 restoration that featured Washington and Viola Davis is something that ought to play well with voters from the on-screen characters branch, the biggest in the Academy. Still, this one is much more inclined to score in acting classes than this classification, where its absence of a coordinating assignment for Washington doesn’t help its odds to pull an upset.Mel Gibson’s rebound triumph is a capable and enthusiastic World War II dramatization that praises the inexhaustible human soul. The genuine story of noncombatant and Medal of Honor victor Desmond Doss is one that was made for the motion pictures, and Gibson’s endeavors behind the camera demonstrate what a splendid producer he is. It has its supporters, yet its absolute best at a triumph would be in the sound and altering classifications, where this re-making of one of WWII’s bloodiest fights is just riveting. The title says it all. This is one serious story and a high-water stamp for the season.

I have been charmed by this shrewd Oscar Awards Live Stream wrongdoing show as far back as observing it at Cannes in May, and from that point forward it has strangely turned out to be more appropriate and politically powerful as occasions have unfurled, all things considered. It is that supernatural occurrence of a motion picture that engages while having something to state, a genuine guardian. The absence of what surely would have been a merited coordinating assignment for David MacKenzie, however, presumably implies this film is some place back in the pack, and far-fetched to stun the masses on Oscar night.

The 89th Academy Awards are set to air Sunday, Feb. 26, beginning at 7 p.m. ET with red carpet coverage and the awards at 8:30 p.m. on ABC.

Movie fans who’ve endured months of trailers and ad campaigns ― and also forgone TV subscriptions ― will have a tougher time, however, tuning in (legally).Live-streaming through ABC.com and the ABC app is available on iOS and Android devices along with streaming devices including Apple TV, Fire TV and Roku. But you’ve got to have a cable subscription and be geographically situated in select areas: Chicago, Fresno, Houston, Los Angeles, New York City, Philadelphia, Raleigh-Durham and San Francisco Oscars Live Stream. ABC states that DirecTV subscribers will also be able to access the live-stream in a few cities: Albuquerque, Boston, Ft. Smith/Fayetteville, Jackson (Mississippi), Kansas City, Milwaukee, Monterey-Salinas, Oklahoma City, Omaha, Pittsburgh, Portland-Auburn (Maine), Savannah and West Palm Beach. After the awards, the ceremony will be available on ABC.com or the ABC app to viewers within the U.S. for a limited time ― but, again, you need a cable subscription.

That leaves out a lot of people. If you don’t have cable, there are a few ways to catch parts of Hollywood’s biggest night, hosted by Jimmy Kimmel, via our old pal, the internet.

Watch the live-stream with a Sling TV or Playstation Vue free trial (or sign up).

Both streaming providers, Sling TV and Playstation Vue, offer free one-week trials and will show the 2017 Oscars. With Sling TV, you still need to live in one of the markets listed above, and ABC access on Playstation Vue is also limited to select markets. (We didn’t make the rules, sorry.)

IMDb is hosting a live Oscars Live Stream companion show that will stream live on IMDb.com, Twitter and Twitch beginning at 8 p.m. ET. The show, which will include unnamed celebrity guests, aims to provide “informative expert commentary to complement and enhance” the actual show. Which you can feel as if you’re watching by obsessively tracking Oscars-related hashtags on Twitter. (Again, sorry.)

The host: Jimmy Kimmmel is hosting the ceremony. It’s his first time. “Yes, I am hosting the Oscars. This is not a prank,” the Jimmy Kimmel Live! host tweeted shortly after the news was announced in December. “And if it is, my revenge on @TheAcademy will be terrible& sweet. Thx to @alsformalwear.”

The 89th Academy Awards (or 1st Televised Hollywood Anti-Trump Rally, as it may come to be known) takes place at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles, California on Sunday February 26, 2017 with Jimmy Kimmel somewhat underwhelmingly serving as this year’s host.

How to get Oscars Awards 2017 News Updates?

Damien Chazelle’s La La Land is likely to collect a serious haul of awards, but it will probably be the no doubt politically-orientated speeches that make the headlines the following morning.

ABC has the rights in the US meanwhile, their coverage kicking off at 7pm EST/4pm PST.Both broadcasters have live services for mobile/desktop viewers, and Sky Cinema is also available through NOWTV.

There, as ever, is no freeview airing of the Oscars in the UK, so people without a Sky subscription will no doubt end up flocking to Twitter and Reddit for streaming links. When it comes to the Oscars, the numbers say it all.

As the biggest night in Hollywood approaches, the industry’s most esteemed stars prepare to enter the Dolby Theater on Sunday—some for the first time in their career, others for the umpteenth time. While plenty of history is ready to be made at the 89th Academy Awards, this year’s pool of nominees have already set several records.

To start, the reigning queen of the silver screen, Meryl Streep, earned her 20th nomination this year for her performance in Florence Foster Jenkins. If she wins, the icon will officially tie with Katharine Hepburn’s record for the most wins by an actress with four statues. However, Streep already leads the pack with the most Oscar Awards 2017 Live Stream nominations of any actor or actress ever by eight. The second most nominated stars are Hepburn and Jack Nicholson with 12 nominations each.

ABC always live streams the Academy Awards at ABC.com and on the WATCH ABC app. Unfortunately the official live stream is normally limited to a handful of major cities and requires a cable/satellite subscription. Last year the live stream through both the official website and app was only available in Chicago, Fresno, Houston, Los Angeles, New York City, Philadelphia, Raleigh-Durham, and San Francisco.

Not only are they important for sports fans, but more and more broadcast stations, such as Comet TV, are being created for cord cutters. A digital antenna also allows you to access all the major broadcast channels, and major events like the Grammys and Academy Awards.

Hollywood’s biggest night has finally arrived! The Oscars will wrap up the 2017 awards season on Sunday, February 26, and Us Weekly has the inside scoop on how to watch it and what to expect. The show, which will be hosted by Jimmy Kimmel, will air on ABC at 8:30 p.m. ET, with red carpet coverage kicking off at 7 p.m. ET. Fans without a TV can also stream the full show online at abc.com or on the ABC app.

This will be Kimmel’s first time hosting the Oscars, though he has hosted the Emmy Awards in both 2012 and 2016, and helmed the 2008 ESPYs. The Jimmy Kimmel Live! star has also tackled the hosting gig for the American Music Awards on ABC five times.“Yes, I am hosting the Oscars. This is not a prank,” Kimmel tweeted shortly after the news was announced in December. “And if it is, my revenge on @ Oscars Awards Live Stream will be terrible& sweet. Thx to @alsformalwear.”The most-nominated film of the year, La La Land, is up for 14 Oscars, including Best Picture and nods for both of its lead actors, Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone. The nostalgic Hollywood love story ties with the all-time record holders All About Eve and Titanic for the most nominations.

Moonlight is another tough contender, nominated in eight categories, and is viewed by many as the biggest threat to La La Land’s Best Picture win, especially given its many wins during this awards season.

In the Best Actor category, film buffs are divided in a close competition between such heavyweights as Denzel Washington (Fences), Casey Affleck (Manchester by the Sea), Viggo Mortensen (Captain Fantastic), Andrew Garfield (Hacksaw Ridge) and Gosling (La La Land).

Stone’s competition in the Best Actress category is just as fierce: Natalie Portman (Jackie), Meryl Streep (Florence Foster Jenkins), Isabelle Huppert(Elle) and Ruth Negga (Loving).Think you know everything about 2017’s Oscar best picture nominees? We’ll take that challenge. From Moonlight to Manchester by the Sea, we’ve got trivia and tidbits about the making of all nine films — straight from their stars.

The Oscars are Sunday (ABC, 7 p.m. ET/4 PT).

Naomie Harris shot her Oscar-nominated role for ‘Moonlight’ in just three days.

Talk about time management: Harris had a three-day break from promoting her James Bond film Spectre (she plays Moneypenny) to shoot Moonlight. That meant setting aside red carpets and designer gowns to get into the mindset of a crack addict. “They took me straight from the airport to set,” she recalls. “I didn’t realize I was going to be wearing these tiny little shorts — my first scene was deep crack addiction, so obviously she doesn’t (care) what she’s wearing. That’s when I got a little scared. I was like, ‘Oh, my gosh, I’m really going to have to go for this.’ ”

Don’t call it an Oscars gift bag.The 2017 “Everyone Wins” nominee swag bag is not affiliated with the Academy Awards, nor is it available to everyone. But that last part is not for lack of trying, said the man who created the bags.”People are excited — is the word I would use — judging from the number of calls we get from people’s Oscar Awards Live Stream assistants and agents wanting to make sure we have the correct address to deliver the bag,” said Distinctive Assest founder Lash Fary, who curates the gift bags. “When people hear there’s a gift bag worth six figures being given out, we actually get calls from those not in the categories we gift.”

The bags are only given to the 25 actors and directors nominated for Oscars each year.

But who could blame other nominees for trying, though, given the goodies? This year’s gift assortment ranges from personalized crayons to a stay to a luxurious villa on Kauai’s South Shore.

Fary said he got the idea 15 years ago, when he was doing similar bags for the Grammys and heard Bette Midler lament about walking away from a ceremony empty handed.”I thought we should do something for the folks who lose,” Fary said. “We started gifting those in the top five categories so that even if they didn’t go home with the gold statue that Sunday night, they would have some fun swag to console themselves with.”

Stars seem to love the gifts, he said Oscars Awards Live Stream. Fary recalled giving nominees a t-shirt a few years ago and seeing a photograph of actress Amy Adams wearing it the next day.Another year, Rosamund Pike used a nominee gift certificate for a candy buffet on her birthday. Fary declined to put a dollar value on this year’s bag, saying only that it is worth six figures. (Last year’s goodies were valued at more than $200,000. )But, apparently, even the best perks of stardom come with a price. The items in the gift bags are eligible to be taxed, Fary said, if the nominees choose to redeem them.

The Presenters

Some of the industry’s biggest names will be taking the stage as presenters at this year’s Oscars, including Amy Adams, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Janelle Monae and Charlize Theron. Chris Evans, Halle Berry, Riz Ahmed, John Cho, Scarlett Johansson, Samuel L. Jackson and Kate McKinnon are a few others.

The Performers

Though the Oscars aren’t as performance-heavy as, say, the Grammys, plenty of music’s brightest will be on hand to make the night a musically memorable one. Justin Timberlake, John Legend, Sting and Lin-Manuel Miranda are just a few of the familiar faces that will make sure the Oscars hit all the high notes.

Stone’s competition in the Best Actress category is just as fierce: Natalie Portman (Jackie), Meryl Streep (Florence Foster Jenkins), Isabelle Huppert (Elle) and Ruth Negga (Loving). If you’re like some of us here at Flavorwire HQ, last year’s political bonanza took up a lot of head space and free time — so you might be feeling a little left behind when it comes to the nominees for this year’s Academy Awards. Fear not, dear readers. We’ve gathered ten facts about ten different Oscar nominees to catch up with this year’s best movies Oscars Awards Live Stream. We hope they’ll inspire you to get your booty in a theater seat (or plunk down some cash for a rental) and enjoy some “you” time in the dark.Don’t look now, but the 2017 Oscars are on the horizon, with the big show set for Feb. 26 — the night before you stroll triumphantly into work and collect on your Oscar pool. To help make that happen, here’s our annual downloadable, pool-friendly 2017 Academy Awards ballot.

To download it, simply click on the above link, which will open a legal-size PDF image. From there, simply print out a copy for each of the suckers you plan to dominate on Oscar night. Just take a quick gander at my hot-off-the-presses Oscar predictions column, in which I offer my analysis — and, more importantly, my picks — in all 24 of this year’s races.(The three most important things to remember when filling it out: “La La Land,” “La La Land” and “La La Land.”)

Should you win, all I ask in return is that you mention me in your acceptance speech.

For the record, the 89th annual Academy Awards will be telecast this year on ABC, with Jimmy Kimmel hosting. The show is scheduled to start at 7:30 p.m. CT, with red-carpet coverage beginning at 5:30.You can also follow along on the big night at NOLA.com/movies, where I’ll be live-blogging the winners as Oscars Awards Live they are announced. You can also follow my Twitter feed (@MoviegoerMike) and my Facebook page for continuing coverage of awards season 2017.Here’s a little experiment. First, try to remember who won the best-actress Oscar in 1973. Any guesses? Hmm? No idea whatsoever? Now, name the woman who, the same year, told the audience that Marlon Brando was declining his best-actor statuette.

You’re forgiven for not knowing Liza Minnelli was the winner for “Cabaret,” a musical statement on life under encroaching fascism in 1930s Berlin. But there’s a good chance you instantly had the answer to the other question.”You remember Sacheen Littlefeather on the stage,” says FiveThirtyEight’s chief culture writer Walt Hickey, who poses the pop quiz to make a point. “These are the things that stick in people minds.”

Such is the power of politics at the Oscars Awards Live Stream. Whether you like the way it spotlighted an injustice (Brando was making a statement on Hollywood’s depiction of American Indians) or considered it ego-driven pomposity (Variety’s Owen Gleiberman opined that the Littlefeather incident “will always live on as a quintessential moment of ’70s flakiness”), you have to admit the impact of protest speech during the live broadcast.

You’ll be able to see all of these incredible actors take to the stage when The Oscars, hosted by Jimmy Kimmel, air LIVE OSCAR SUNDAY FEB 26 7e|4p on ABC.

f you’re not a huge Hollywood power-player, it’s almost impossible to watch the Academy Awards live and in-person. And yet, as you’re watching from home on TV, it’s fun to remember that not everyone in those seats is a celebrity. There are, in fact, a few ways for a non-celebrities to attend the Oscars. And sometimes, if they get very lucky, they even end up sitting in the front row.

Public tickets to the Oscars don’t really exist, but there are free tickets available to people who want to sit in the bleachers and watch the procession of red carpet action. These tickets are available in a lottery that the Academy calls a “Fan Experience.” The tickets don’t actually get you into the ceremony itself, but if you’re into figuring out who has the best outfit and have a pair of opera-glasses (or binoculars), this is the cheapest and safest bet for getting some in-the-flesh Oscar action. There are other Academy-sponsored ceremonies you can attend, too. If you wanted to go the awards ceremony for Documentaries on February 22nd — four days before the main Oscars — you could line up for standby tickets. Technically, if you went to these smaller awards shows, you could tell your friends that you went to the Academy Awards, and you wouldn’t be lying.

But, hands-down, the most interesting way Oscars Live Stream a non-celebrity can hit up the Academy Awards is by being a seat-filler. Oh, what’s a seat-filler? It’s a person who makes sure there is a body next to a famous person when that famous person has to head to the stage to present something.

La La Land, Moonlight, Fences, Manchester by the Sea, and Hell or High Water will likely walk away with more than one nomination—including “Best Picture”—based on both the popularity of the films as well as their multiple nominations at the Golden Globes earlier this month.

Expected contenders for this year’s “Best Actor” and “Best Actress” are mostly predictable, thanks to standout performances from Hollywood’s finest in the aforementioned buzziest films of the year.

The 2017 Oscars: 15 Craziest Snubs and Surprises

Casey Affleck (Manchester by the Sea), Denzel Washington (Fences), and Ryan Gosling (La La Land) are all safe bets for “Best Actor,” but Jake Gyllenhaal (Nocturnal Animals) and Andrew Garfield (Hacksaw Ridge) are also top contenders for the five spots.

As for “Best Actress,” Emma Stone Oscar Live Stream (La La Land) is a clear favorite, as is Amy Adams for her role as alien-interpreter in Arrival and Natalie Portman for her convincing turn as first lady Jackie O. in Jackie. Other shortlisted names include Hollywood’s queen, Meryl Streep (Florence Foster Jenkins), Taraji P. Henson (Hidden Figures), and Isabelle Huppert (for the rape-revenge thriller Elle).

While nominations for the Golden Globes, Critics’ Choice Awards, and SAG Awards may give a hint as to what we can expect from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ list, there are always at least a half-dozen major snubs and surprises that can be anticipated from any awards nominee list.

So tune in Tuesday morning at 8:18 a.m. ET to watch the official announcement live and Oscars.org for the complete list.

How to Live Stream the 2017 Oscar Nominations Announcement

The movie-awards season is a mountain range with many peaks — perhaps too many — the inevitable valleys that sag between them and, finally, an Everest that inspires your second wind and an excited sprint: The Academy Awards. Here are my predictions, and my predilections.

The Academy Awards kicks off live on ABC on Sunday, Feb. 26, with a 7 p.m. ET preshow and 8:30 p.m. ceremony.

Fourteen nominations for a chamber Oscar Awards Live musical that pays homage to classics of the genre (including some French ones) is arguably too much of a good thing. It’s as if you packed a brown-bag lunch with 14 tins of caviar. But — unlike 2003’s Best Picture, Chicago — this slender, bittersweet story about the power and fragility of romance has redefined the movie musical for a new generation. All the praise and prizes showered on the film possibly could trigger a backlash, although there really hasn’t been much evidence of that other than a good Saturday Night Live sketch.

But, as we know, jockeying is part of the fun and adrenaline of awards season, even in the absence of an actual horserace.

Only Hidden Figures, a big, uplifting, confident hit, is heading into the final stretch with the same love, if not quite the same adulation.

Affleck’s win seemed inevitable until Fences’ Denzel Washington pulled an upset at the Screen Actors Guild Awards. If Affleck does end up losing to Washington (again), no one has any cause to carp: Washington’s performance is so stupendously meaty you’re tempted to get out the grill and reach for the seasonings. Still, Affleck’s performance as a man crippled by grief is a maximal-minimal classic: He holds back tears, and everyone else sobs buckets. He’ll win. As he deserves to.

Stone has been gaining momentum — Golden Globe, Screen Actors Guild Award — and now all that early-in-the-season talk about Natalie Portmans Jackie feels nostalgic, like a piano playing the melody of “Camelot” far off in the Kennedy White House. La La cements Stone’s standing as a major actress who can put a performance across with no visible effort. And those eyes! They can do everything except sing and dance.

It’s a shame, though, that the Academy completely overlooked the single best actress of 2016: Amy Adams. She was flawless in two radically different roles in two radically different movies: the sadly reflective linguist in Arrival and the glam but glum art dealer reading her way to ever deeper misery in Nocturnal Animals.

Although he lost to Nocturnal Animals Oscar Live ’ Aaron Taylor-Johnson at the Globes, Ali has done well this awards season — his is the rare supporting performance that upholds an entire film. (He also has the advantage of being an established “newcomer” who’s good in everything, and in everything, including Hidden Figures and Netflix’s Luke Cage and House of Cards.) The competition is impressive — there’s newcomer Lucas Hedges in Manchester — but his understated performance as a drug dealer who becomes a father figure will win.

Here’s another category where there’s no need for Fences-sitting: Davis has won prize after prize for her magnificent performance as Washington’s sorely tested wife. If you want to quibble that she ought to have been bumped up into the Best Actress race, then let this make up for the supporting Oscar she should have won for 2008’s Doubt.

This looks likely to land in the lap of La La Land’s Damien Chazelle, who recently won the top prize from the Directors Guild of America followed in short order by a win at the British Academy  Film Awards. But it’s not uncommon for the Academy to decouple Best Picture from Best Director, and this is one case in which it should do so: Moonlight director Barry Jenkins is the more deserving nominee. Moonlight is the more daringly conceived movie and the more distinctive achievement, what with it Oscar Awards Live Stream s tripartite narrative, its themes of homosexuality and race, and its often poetic air of detachment, as if a high, thin cloud named Terrence Malick were casting its shadow onto the landscape. Good luck to you, Mr. Jenkins.[source]
